Rotisserie Basket
A rotisserie basket is a grilling utensil that allows you to rotisserie foods without a skewer or spit. The best kind of rotisserie basket is stainless steel. Some less expensive baskets are made from chrome plated aluminum and are not as strong and may not hold up as well as the stainless steel variety.
There are different kinds of rotisserie baskets–the tumble basket and the flat basket. These can be attached to your rotisserie.
A tumble basket works exactly the way it sounds. Small foods like chopped vegetables, shrimp or chicken wings and legs go in the round rotisserie tumble basket and tumble as the basket spins on the rotisserie rod. This is the perfect way to grill many foods that won’t fall apart from tumbling. I love to do seasoned potatoes and teriyaki shrimp in the tumble basket.
A flat basket, sometimes also referred to as a fish basket secures flat foods such as a whole fish or a filet. This is the perfect way to cook salmon or swordfish steaks.
There are a couple of important points to keep in mind when using a rotisserie basket. Always use a drip pan to avoid flare ups and possible over-cooking. Also, smaller foods cook more quickly depending on their distance from the flame. Keep a close watch on vegetables, shrimp and other rotisserie basket items. Always read the instructions for your grilling equipment.
The grilling possibilities are endless with a rotisserie basket!
